Ad Man. An icon in the world of advertising, he created some of the most enduring campaigns and memorable slogans for Timex, Mattel and Post Cereals. He served as a director of the Bel-Air Association, Veterans' Park Conservancy, and Sinai Temple.

American Advertising Executive, Composer and Producer. Alben received a bachelor's degree in the early 1950s from Syracuse University in New York and briefly worked as a producer for several children's television shows, including 'Bozo the Clown', before beginning a forty year career in advertising. He began his career in the ad industry by working as a copywriter. Many of his accounts dealt children's toys and other products, including those manufactured by Mattel, Hasbro and the Ideal Toy Company. Alben created ad campaigns for Hot Wheels and wrote the script for the first Barbie Fashion Show. In 1968, he became the creative director of the Carson Roberts Agency, based in Los Angeles, and in the early 1970s, he served as the Vice President and Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather where he created some of the most enduring campaigns and memorable slogans for many companies including Mattel and Post Cereals. He created the Timex watch advertising slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" and also worked on campaigns for foods, candies and children's cereals. He wrote the jingle for Good & Plenty's "Choo Choo Charlie" TV commercials and wrote songs for two of Post's advertising mascots, "Linus the Lionhearted" and "Sugar Bear". Alben and his wife, Ruth, wrote both of the official albums for the 1964 New York World's Fair, 'Jump to the Fair' and 'Hop to New York'. In 2007, he wrote the music for a play based on the life of Albert Einstein called "The Smartest Man in The World". Alben died after a brief illness. (bio by: Louis M.
