January 21, 1998. This January day was made a little colder with the passing of our warm, gentle, and loving father, husband, big brother, son and friend, Brian D. Blackburn. Brian lost his ten-month gallant struggle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was surrounded by his family as his pain and suffering finally subsided, and he was able to move on to bigger and better things.
Brian was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 14, 1968 to David and Trudy Blackburn. Brian married Claudia K. Crane on July 30, 1989. Brian and Claudia have two beautiful daughters: Breanna, 7, and Cassidy, 3, who will sorely miss their gentle, giant father. Brian worked at many jobs, but was happiest when using his brilliant mind and was settled in for a career with Fidelity Investments, whose support has been greatly appreciated by his family. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family camping, hunting, and playing at Lake Powell. But most of all, he enjoyed entertaining his two little sweethearts.
Brian is survived by his loving wife and daughters; parents, David and Trudy Blackburn; sisters, Janie Neal, Marianne Craghead, Becki and Suzanne Blackburn; brother, Steve Blackburn, who unselfishly donated his bone marrow to Brian; and loving in-laws, Clyde and Ora Crane, Dick Crane, Jim Crane, Scott Crane, and Cathy Holder; as well as many other loving family members.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at 1 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State,
Midvale. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
Brian's family wishes to thank the U of U Hospital BMT staff, the SICU staff and all those who helped in loving and caring for Brian through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations for his girls may be made at any US Bank branch.
We love you, "Bri". You will always be in our hearts!
