Looney served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Basic Energy for eight years as a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his daughter Sheila Hart and husband Ken of Bentson (Benton), Arkansas; three brothers: Ricky Looney of Denver City, Texas, Don Looney of Midland, Texas and Bill Looney of Henderson, Nevada: a step sister Connie Harper of Eunice, New Mexico along with two grandchildren Kallie and Blake Hart.
