A Confederate Soldier that served as 2nd Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion, SC, CSA during the War Between the States 1861-1865 when it became 26th SC Infantry, CSA. He resigned as Lieutenant & became Pvt. Pugh Floyd's letter of resignation August 17, 1862 is posted at this memorial. He resigned by reason of age & failing mental health. Resignation granted Sept. 4, 1862. He served in Co E, 16th SC Inf., CSA & died of disease at home during the WBTS (after 1862).
