Murl E. Lacy, 76, died Sunday, October 29, in Childress General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 1989, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Howard Jones, of Hamlin, a former pastor and Dr. Keith Bruce, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Active pall bearers were: J.R. Bowen, Earl Patterson, James Williams, Duggie James, Virgil Patterson, Jim Forrester, Cliff Hartman and Don Allred. Honorary pall bearers were: James Masten, Louis Allred, Eddie Popwell, Leo Popwell, Emory Hunter, Joe Tarver, Bob McAlister and Cal Sugg.
Mr. Lacy was born in Quail, July 17, 1913, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace Lacy. He married Norma Aduddell on November 18, 1938 at Wellington. He was a graduate of Quail High School. He belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge and First Baptist Church. Mr. Lacy retired from farming in 1981, and he and his wife lived in Wellington.
His survivors include his wife, Norma Lacy; two sons: Glenn Lacy of Wellington and Jerry Lacy of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers: Dennis Lacy of Wellington and Drury Lacy of Childress; two sisters, Lena Sweatt of Memphis and Leta Garner of Oklahoma City and four grandchildren.
