Harold Burks, who lived in Edmond the greater portion of his life died at Bartlesville last Friday and was buried here Sunday. He had been indisposed for about a year, stricken with lead poison, but up to a short while ago he was able to attend to business.
Harold was the son of Col. Charles Burks, one of the first settlers in this part of the state. His wife is the daughter of G.D. Doxsie, another pioneer of Edmond.
Frank Harold Burks was born in St. Genevieve County, Missouri, November 4, 1882. Came to Oklahoma with his parents, Charles and Emily Burks, in March 1890, has since been a resident of Oklahoma County and Edmond until last October at which time he with his family moved to Bartlesville where they resided until his death January 24, 1913.
He married Miss Bertha Doxie August 14, 1903. They had known each other since childhood. To them were born three sons.
President of State Outdoor Advertising Association, Member of Woodman, I.O.O.F. and Moose Orders. Funeral services under auspices of I.O.O.F.
Members of the family present were: Hugh Adams and family, Crescent; Mrs. Anna B. Love and family, Oklahoma City; F.R. Burks and family, Arcadia; Mrs. Mary Willett and family, Perry; Chas. Burks Jr., Pineville, Mo. All immediate family present except Mrs. J.L. Copeland, Leeper, Mo., Wayne Doxie and family of Witcher and Mrs. N.D. Thomas of Adams, Neb., brother and sister of Mrs. Harold Burks also present.
We extend sympathy and condolence to bereaved family and relatives.
