According to the "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" Captain Thomas Higgins, Sr., was buried here, at Duck Creek Cemetery, Wellsfleet, Massachusetts. However, the Town Clerk states they have no record of this burial.

Son of Benjamin Higgins Jr and Sarah Freeman, he married Abigail Paine. They had eight children:

Thomas Higgins Jr, 1729 – 1809
Benjamin Higgins, 1731
Jonathan Higgins, 1734 – 1821
Jesse Higgins, 1736 – 1790
