Ashley Lloyd Starling, 90-year-old retired farmer of Smithfield, died Sunday morning in Johnston County Memorial Nursing Center in Smithfield following a period of declining health.
A native of Johnston County, he was a son of the late James Ashley and Nancy Caroline Capps Starling.
The funeral was scheduled for 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield with the Rev. Kimery Ard and the Rev. Clark Davis officiating and burial following in the Kemple Family Cemetery in the Brogden Community of Johnston County.
Mr. Starling is survived by one son, Leonard Starling of Smithfield, four daughters, Mrs. Doris McLean of Poquoson, Virginia; Miss Katie Starling of Smithfield, and Mrs. Bernice Jones and Mrs. Alice Davis of Clayton; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Nettie Pittman of Norfolk, Virginia.
