In the 1870 U.S. Census, photographer Davis Loring, 50, born Maine, was living in Eastport, Maine, with Mary W., 35; Roberta, 14; Mattie, 13; Camelia, 11; David, 7; George, 5; and Benjamin, 2; all born in Maine; Martha Clark, 68; and clerk Chas. W. Loring, 17, both born in Maine.

After Catherine Smith, the second wife of Davis' older brother Josiah, died of t.b. in 1866, their daughter Florence Amelia lived with her uncle Davis and his family in Eastport.

IN THE 1860 U.S. Census, Martha Clark, 59, born Maine, was living in Eastport, Maine with Davis Loring, 35; Melissa M., 25; Roberta F., 4; Meacha, 3; and Cornelia M., 1, all born in Maine.
