Nora M. Altmiller, 87, of 1823 Stoystown Road, Friedens, died Aug. 9, 1997, at Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 16, 1909, in Meyersdale. Daughter of the late Louis and Edith (Hersh) Kerschensteiner. Preceded in death by husband, Homer Altmiller, in 1956; daughter, Elizabeth Altmiller; brothers, Carl and Harvey Kerschensteiner, and sister, Elizabeth Herwig. Survived by these children: Theodore Herwig, married to the former Luella Yoder, Newbury, Ohio; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Durst, Friendens RD 2; Homer Altmiller, married to the former Ilene Trout, Warminster, Pa., and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Shepley, Friedens; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. Brother of Frank Kerschensteiner, Jenners. Member of Geiger Church of the Brethren. Retired employee of Somerset State Hospital. Friends were received at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 am today, Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh and Rev. James Monticue, officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, New Centerville.
