EXETER -- Sheryl L. Carter, 50, of Great Hill Court, died Saturday, Sept.. 9, 2000, in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, after a battle with leukemia.

She was born Sept. 29, 1949, in Exeter, the daughter of Walter G. and Janice E. (Holmes) Carter of Kingston, and has resided in Exeter for several years.

She was a 1967 graduate of Sanborn Seminary.

Mrs. Carter was employed at The Grill, Phillips Exeter Academy, for the past 10 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sons, Brett Charleston of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Albert Short and his wife Christie of Barrington; her fiancee, Matthew Kucharski of Exeter; two grandsons; three sisters, Candra Carter of Pleasanton, Calif., Dawn Robertson of Escondido, Calif., and Jayne Hanscomb of East Kingston; three brothers, Grant Carter of Kensington, Cory Carter of Oak Hill, Fla., and Layne Carter of Kingston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services were held Tuesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, with the Rev. Thompson officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America.

Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.
