Richard Williams was born 24 Feb 1834 in Clark Co., MS. During the Civil War, he served with the 11th TX Infantry, Co. I. He enlisted 8 Feb 1862 in Canton and served until 1865. He was detached as a teamster in western Louisiana. He married first Rebecca Chrestman in Van Zandt County on 7 May 1858. She was born 14 Nov 1838, died 19 Dec 1891. He married second Mrs. Julia E. Chappell in Van Zandt County on 26 Feb 1899. She was born ca 1855 in Rusk County, died 20 Dec 1938. He died 14 Jul 1915. She applied for Widow's Pension #31896 on 14 Aug 1915 while living at Canton. She was 60 years old at the time and had lived in Texas all her life. They were all buried at Hillcrest Cemetery.
