FREDERICK (TED) WILLIAM BELLIS, 88, a 58 year resident of Waynedale, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 9, 1923 the son of Fredrick and Margaret Bellis in Monroeville, Ind. He married Elenora Liggett on Sept. 15, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1973. After serving in the Army in WWII and the Korean Conflict, he worked at Slater Steel for 40 years. At the time of his death he had been actively working at Willow Ridge Golf Club for 22 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post #420 and the V.F.W. Post 857. Surviving are his children, David (Linda) Bellis of Savage, Minn., Roger (Cheryl) Bellis of LaOtto, Ind., Diana (Jack) Bloomfield and Cheryl (Richard) Bacon of Fort Wayne, Charlene Bellis and Frederick (Cindy) Bellis Jr. of Baxter, Tenn. and Mona Howell of North Port, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchldren; brother, Ervin Bellis; and sisters, Mary Ann Ternet, Katherine Lothamer and Delores Clevenger. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Norbert, Donald, Robert and Paul and his sister, Theresa. Funeral Service is 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd. with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Lane Burgland officiating. Calling is also 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow immediately at Greenlawn Cemetery on Covington Rd. with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 420.
