Aged Resident of Concord Township Fatally Burned

Mrs. Ellen Cumberland Expires from Injuries Received Yesterday

Mrs. Ellen Cumberland, aged 93, was fatally burned at 7 o'clock Monday morning at her home in Concord township, when her clothing caught fire at an open grate fire in her bedroom. Members of her family went to her aid when heard her screams and physicians were summoned to attend her. She lingered until 8 o'clock last night when death resulted.

Mrs. Cumberland was the oldest and one of the best known residents of the community where she lived. She was born in Oakland township, Butler county in 1824, and was the daughter of one of the pioneers of the district, John Beatty. After her marriage to John Cumberland, she removed to Concord township, where she has since resided. Her husband died 12 years ago. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian church.

The following children survive; J. H. Cumberland of Butler, E. L. Cumberland, with whom she resided on the homestead; John Cumberland of Hooker, E. C. Cumberland of Hooker, Mrs. Elizabeth Cochran of Hooker and Mrs. J. C. Critchlow of Brownsdale.

Arrangements for the funeral had not be completed last night.
