I really wish I could have met you. You sound like such a great man from what my mother and grandmother and aunts/uncles tell me. I am sadened that I have never met you, but I am also honored to know that you fought for our country. May God be with You at all times.

Hi Dad! I know you are not with us physically but, you will always be with us spiritually. You have two great grandchildren. Conrad Manuel Montoya III his nick name is "Tre" he turned 5 years old on June 7th. Then there is Kaeli Nicole Johnson her nick name is "Nicky" she will be 2 years old on Dec. 13th. They are both such happy kids. Tre is into Spiderman and Kae likes helping mom (Misti) clean the house. We love and miss you Dad. Mom still talks a lot about you and misses you very much. I'll never forget the time we sat in front of the TV in Fort Leonard Wood you had us kids sitting around you and we were watching a funny movie eating popcorn. We all laughed so hard the pop we were drinking came out our noses. And the time we were watching Allstar Wrestling and David hid behind your back and would peek over your shoulders every once and awhile. He was scared. You were a great DAD and you will always remain in our hearts.

Love Always
Your Daughter

Dear Dad,
I just wanted to let you know that I got a Foot Stone for Mom and it is right above yours on both your grave. I put an American and German flag on Mom's Foot Stone and also the German Edelweiss flower.

Dad you will be happy to know that me and Antoinette Ortiz-Colon are still fighting to get our Gold Star Family license plates here in Kansas.

Dad they had a ceremony for you at KU Army ROTC on September 10th in front of the Jayhawk Battalion. Your former Commanders in Vietnam, former Capt. Lou Reymann and ret. Major General Kent Hillhouse flew here to Kansas from Maryland and California for your honor ceremony at KU.

There is a plaque of you now that is permanently placed in the Military Science Bldg. #67 at KU Army ROTC on your behalf and Dad it is in the classroom where you use to teach.

Mom raised us to be very proud of you and she was so proud that you had taught at KU as an ROTC Instructor. So, when Mr. Rollins from Ohio sent me a sketch of you, I felt that KU was the best place for the sketch.

They let me have the sketch back and instead made a plaque that me and ret. Major General Kent Hillhouse unveiled at the ceremony. It was awesome Dad and I wish Mom would of been here to see it all. May you, Mom, Grant and Cathline rest in peace.

We love all of you and Dad--thank you and Mom for giving me life!!

Hi Dad,
I miss you and Mom so much. Dad I have been working on the Gold Star family license plate bill for just little over a year. On Jan. 12,2010 Sen. Dick Kelsey held a News Conference at the Capitol in Topeka, KS to introduce the Gold Star Family license plate bill. KU Army ROTC had an honor ceremony for you on Sept. 10, 2009 and your former Capt. Lou Reymann and ret. MG Kent Hillhouse flew in from both coast to honor you. Dad they thought the world of you and confirmed everything that Mom had told us about you.

Love,

Jootsey Poots
