Conductor. Born in Matskovychi, Peremyshl county, Galicia, he was an internationally noted Ukrainian orchestra conductor. A graduate of the Lviv Conservatory, he conducted the Lviv Theater of Opera and Ballet (1960-62), the Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (1963-67, 1973-77), and the Kyiv Theater of Opera and Ballet (1960-77). He also taught conducting at the Lviv Conservatory (1966-74). As an orchestral and operatic conductor, his innovations were enthusiastically welcomed during his tours of the USSR, Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Germany, France, England, Spain, Italy, Japan and America. He died at age 50 in the Ukraine.
