Rock Musician, Guitarist, Songwriter. He was the co-founder of the 1990s alternative rock band Gin Blossoms, with childhood friend Bill Leen, based in Tempe, Arizona. Gin Blossoms was formed in 1987 with Hopkins serving as the band's lead guitarist and principal songwriter, along with guitarist Jesse Valenzuela, frontman Robin Wilson and drummer Phillip Rhodes rounding out the lineup. Hopkins wrote songs & played guitar on the albums, "Dusted" (1989) and their A&M Records major label debut, "New Miserable Experience" (1992) along with the E.P., "Up and Crumbling" (1991). Songs written by Hopkins include: "Hey Jealousy," "Found Out About You," "Lost Horizons" and "Hold Me Down." He played with Chimeras after leaving Gin Blossoms.
