Della C. Gaines was born in 1888 to Lee Gaines & Prudence Edgington. She spent most of her life in Crawford County, IL, marrying Everett Ellsworth Grubaugh in Palestine, Crawford, IL on 14 May 1913. They had three children. The first, Frances P. Grubaugh, dying at the age of 2 in 1916. Geneil Esther Grubaugh McDaniel (1915-2001) and Robert Lee Grubaugh (b.1922) are the other two children . Everett died suddenly of a heart attack in 1929 and left Della with her two children. She never remarried and died in a nursing home in Flora in 1974.

Della Grubaugh Della Grubaugh, 85, 201 E. Second St., Flora, formerly of Robinson, died April 27 at the Flora Nursing Center. Born October 6, 1888, near Heathsville, daughter of the late Lee and Prudence Edgington Gaines, she married Everett E. Grubaugh who preceded her in death in 1929. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star, Altamont, Illinois Chapter. Surviving are a son, Robert Grubaugh, Flora; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Geneil) McDaniel, Champaign; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Davis, Bellflower, Calif. and a sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Alta) Keith, Cambridge, Ohio. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday in the chapel of the Buchanan Funeral Home, Robinson, with Dr. Dale Harmon officiating. Burial followed in the old Robinson Cemetery.
