Fred Washburne, Rt. 1, Junction City, died in front of his home of a heart attack, the Lane County Coroner's office reported Friday.

The 72-year-old retired farmer was found dead Thursday morning by his nephew, Jim Washburne. A doctor said heart trouble was the cause of death.

A taxi driver reported taking Washburne home from downtown in Junction City at midnight Wednesday. When last seen Wednesday, Washburne was walking toward the home where he had lived alone since the death of his wife 18 months ago.

Miller-Sherman-Murphy Mortuary of Junction City will have charge of services.

WASHBURNE - Frederick W. Washburne, Rt. 1, Junction City, passed away Thursday, January 19, 1950, at his home at the age of 72. He was born in Junction City, April 1877. He is survived by one sisters, Bertha Lee of Eugene, one brother B. A. Washburne of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 1950, at the Miller-Sherman-Murphy Funeral Home, Junction City, 10 a.m. with Rev. Empey officiating. Entombment will be in the Portland Crematorium Monday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m.
