Samuel A. Batrouny 83, of Youngstown, NY, died Thursday December 25, 2008, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, following a short illness.

Samuel was born in Binghamton, NY on May 2, 1925, the son of the late Amiel and Jeannie [ Shaheen ] Batrouny and moved to Niagara Falls, NY as a child where he attended local schools. He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church Niagara Falls, NY 14305. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class in WW II, aboard the LCI445, his ship was torpedoed and he received a Bronze Star for his unselfish bravery. He was also onboard ship for the initial invasion of the Philippines. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a EMFN in the Korean War. Sam was employed as a Quality control inspector at Chisolm Ryder, later Airco Speer Niagara for 35 years prior to his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Margaret M. McGrady, two brothers, Donald husband of Ellen Batrouny, Arthur widower of Beverly Batrouny, three sisters, Geraldine wife of John Olin, Sandra wife of Michael Santoro, Shirley (late Edward) Walaszek. He is also survived by also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Edward Batrouny and sisters, Mae Batrouny and Jeannette Cascioli.
