GREEN RIVER-Maxine Baker, age 86, passed away July 14, 2010 in Fruita, Colorado.
She was born April 12, 1924 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Harry James and Florence L. Riley Howland.
Maxine married Joe B. Baker on January 14, 1950 in Green River, Utah; he passed away on July 21, 1983.
Maxine was an avid reader of books and she had an extensive collection of elephants. She loved to play scrabble and keep a daily journal. She was a member of the Women’s Club. Maxine worked at several local places in Green River and was the City Recorder for 28 years. She was a very generous person who contributed to numerous charities. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed by her granddaughters.
Survived by her two granddaughters, Monica and Meredith Baker, SLC; daughter-in-law, Marsha Stephens, Tucson, AZ; cousin, Anita Hill, Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Noel Baker, California; sister- in- law, Addie Baker, Moab.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Jody J. Baker.
Funeral service, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at the Green River LDS Ward. Family will be at the church Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Elgin Cemetery, Green River, Utah. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
