Ashland County was formed on 24 February 1846 from portions of Huron, Lorain, Richland, and Wayne counties. The Deal family was likely living in Milton Township in Richland township at this time. Richland County's Clear Creek Township, Milton Township and Mifflin Township were partitioned, with all old records remaining in the eastern portion of each township in the new Ashland County. So Peter's father appears to be buried in Mifflin Township, Richland County while some of Peter's later records list Mifflin Township, Ashland County.
