Revolutionary Soldiers Buried Near Mansfield - Honoring war dead comes to mind as Memorial Day nears. Near Powers Corners, Mansfield RD 3, is a small cemetery in which 2 Revolutionary War soldiers are buried and each Memorial Day, appropriately decorated with flags by some thoughtful member of the family.
The plot is a family type cemetery and is near the place where the proposed Route 6 by-pass will reenter the present road.
Buried there are Seth Clark and Adam Hart, both Revolutionary soldiers. Mr. Hart was 73 at the time of his death and it is understood that Seth Clark came here to live some time after the Revolution when his relatives had already settled here.
Also buried in the cemetery are: Seth Clark, age 29; a daughter of J.B. and Nancy Clark, aged 10 months; Nancy K. Adams Hart, wife of Adam Hart; and Eleanor, wife of Seth Clark. Some Vandals used one of the flag holders for target practice and one of these shots could have broken the headstone of the Seth Clark grave.
The cemetery, at one time, overlooked the Mainesburg Road.
