She was born April 25, 1938 in Burgess, Missouri the daughter of Everett Eugene and Florence Violet (Whetzell) Richards.
She married James Lee Russell and he preceded her in death June of 1995.
Amelia is survived by her children, Jay Russell of Arcadia, KS, Donna Nunez of Elgin, TX, Teresa Zepada of Buda, TX, Jimmy Lee Russell of Comfort, TX, Joby Russell of Arma, KS, and Amelia Jo Sauchak of Illinois; a sister, Connie Ferrell of Walnut, KS; and seven grandchildren. In addition to her husband James, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Eddie Richards, and a sister, Dauphine Lowe.
Pastor Randy Woods will conduct graveside services for Amelia at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the US National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. and leave for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harry Hynes Hospice or the American Diabetes Association and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
