Hazel Faye Grooms, 90, of West Union, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia. She was born in West Union on May 10, 1911, daughter of the late Earnest and Effie Satterfield. She was a lifetime farmer, former member of the East Liberty Community Church and a lifetime member of the Satterfield's Chapel near West Union. Survivors include one son, Treber S. Grooms of West Union; three daughters, Grace Estes of Cincinnati, Agnes Lucille Brown and Delores Kattine both of West Union; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Grooms; one foster son, Everett Palmer; and one grandson, Johnny Estes. Services were held Sunday, Dec. 23 at the Satterfield's Chapel near West Union with the Rev. Cliff Stevens officiating. Burial took place at the West Union Cemetery.
