Vincent Neal Parker, 78, of Andrews, North Carolina, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, died at his home on Tuesday, January 9, 2001. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2001, 6-7 p.m., at Townson-Rose Chapel, 409 Kent Street, Andrews. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, 7:15 p.m., at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Lewis Welch and the Rev. Butch Stillwell. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, January 12, 11 a.m., at Parker Family Cemetery, Andrews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to Hospice, c/o Good Shepherd Home Health & Hospice Agency, Inc., P.O. Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904. Arrangements entrusted to Townson-Rose Chapel, Andrews, North Carolina

Vincent was a devoted horseman and participated in every Western North Carolina Wagon Train from its inception in the early 1950's. Note photo on his tombstone of his wagon and two mules, "Jim and Jo". His Uncle Harley Thompson passed on these horses and wagon when he passed in 1967. Vincent drove the wagon till his last year.
