Reuben James Simpson Sr. was called home on August 2, 2012. Reuben was born January 8, 1942 in Tyler Texas. He graduated from Weldon High School in Gladewater. TX. After graduation, Reuben served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later met his sweetheart and lifetime business partner, Pauline.

Reuben started the first disposal service in Marina. After that, Reuben and Pauline opened the venerable Broadway Deli in Seaside in 1976 and operated it until its closing in 1992. While Pauline managed the deli, Reuben continued to work at Granite Rock from which he retired and started his own transportation service in the mid 80"s which is still successfully operating today by his children.

Reuben is the First Vice President, Founder and current Board Member of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival. He is a member of the National Limousine Assoc. Teamsters Local #890. Past V. P. of the Retired Men's Social Club, American Legion Seaside Post 591 and affiliated with the Seaside V.F.W. Post 8679.

Reuben was a father figure to many, and entrepreneur who always gave sound business advice and one who could always find the positive out of a negative situation. He will be missed by all.

Reuben is survived by his three children. Michelle, Darryl and Reuben Jr; Siblings, Charles Holmes, Truman Holmes, Booker Holmes, Judson Jordan Jr. and Lillian Jordan; Grandchildren Darryl Jr. Durrel, Des'Ree, Shacoria, Jayliah, Ojaya, Reuben III Miarra, Andrew, Jessica and Marissa: Sisters Pat, Jackie and Freda; Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. His loving wife Pauline, his parents and brothers precede Reuben in Death.

Graveside Service was held Thursday, August 16th 2012, at 10:00am with military honors at Mission Memorial Park. 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside California. Immediately following the Cemetery Services all gathered at the Embassy Suites for the Home Going Celebration.
