S.R. Smith Mortuary records of Lead state that James Emmett, son of Mrs. Maggie Connors, died in Lead at 10 p.m. on January 22, 1893 of spinal meningitis; age 1 year 5 months 17 days; 2'9" tall; buried at 2 p.m. on January 24, 1893 in the Catholic Cemetery, Lead.

Black Hills Daily Times newspaper, January 25, 1893 - Emmet, son of Mrs. Thomas Connors, aged 15 months, died at 10 o'clock Sunday night, of spinal meningitis, after a few weeks' illness. Funeral from the Catholic church at 2 p.m. today.

Died, in Lead, at 10 o'clock Sunday evening, James E, infant son of Mrs. Thomas Connors, of spinal meningitis, aged 1 year 5 months and 15 days. The little one seemed to have been in perfect health until a few days ago, when it was taken with the fatal disease which no earthly physician could cure. The young mother, who was recently left a widow, is heart-broken over this, her second great affliction. The PIONEER joins numerous friends in extending sympathy. The funeral will be announced later.

The funeral of James E., infant son of Mrs. Thomas Connors, took place from the residence at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Father Redmond officiating. The little one was laid to rest by the side of his father, in the Catholic cemetery, Lead.
