Although the "bio" states that he was born in England, all his older siblings were born in the U.S. and all his census records state he was born in Wisconsin. His father was born in Germany - perhaps in the era of the bio, it was not a good thing to be from Germany. His mother was born in England per her 1880 census. (Note from contributer #47361005.)

CHRIST HAGENOW

Christ George Hagenow, Reedsville's oldest citizen, died in Manitowoc Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the age of 84. He had been a resident of the village for 81 years. Death was due to apoplexy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., from the Shimon funeral home with the Brillion I.O.O.F. lodge in charge and at 2 p.m., from the Evangelical church in Reedsville with the Rev. William J. Abe officiating. The body is at the Shimon funeral home. Interment will be beside his wife in the Zion Evergreen cemetery, one mile south of Reedsville.

Mr. Hagenow was born in England on Nov. 4, 1856 but he came to this country with his parents at the age of three years. After a short stay in Pennsylvania the family moved to Reedsville, where for many years, his father was village postmaster and operator of the Rockland House which stood on the site of the Rahn property.

In 1883 Mr. Hagenow married Louise Koening, who died in January, 1926. A son and a daughter were born to the couple. The daughter, Gertrude, died in 1916.
Since Mrs. Hagenow's death, the deceased made his home with his son, Fred, at Reedsville. Other immedate survivors are one sister, Mrs. Isabel Myers, in Sheboygan; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hagenow was a member of the board of trustees of Reedsville village from 1893-1896. He belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodmen of America.
