MAN IS FOUND DEAD IN SWAMP NEAR COLLINS
Believed to have been overcome while crossing a swamp in the town of Collins and then to have frozen to death, Ferdinand Krueger, 60 year old town of Franklin farm worker, was found early this afternoon by a nephew searching for him. The dead man was last seen on Sunday night when he left the home of his brother, Emil, for whom he worked with the announced intentions of visiting relatives at Collins.
Failure of Mr. Krueger to return to his home on Sunday caused no worry as it was believed that he had remained on a more extended visit than first planned, but after several days passed without trace being found of him, a search was started.
It was brought to a close early this afternoon when the dead mans' nephew, Clarence Krueger, found the body near the old homestead.

Partly Covered
Definite cause of Mr. Krueger's death was not determined up until 3 o'clock this afternoon as persons finding the body did not disturb it but notified Sheriff Herman Carstens who, with Coroner W.G. Kemper, left immediately for the scene to investigate the conditions surrounding the death. The body, it was said, was partly covered by ice covering the swamp.
Mr. Krueger was a life-long resident of the county and was born in the town of Rockland. He never married and his only immediate relatives are two brothers and several sisters, living in the vicinity of Collins.

NO INQUEST IN DEATH OF MAN FOUND IN SWAMP
Co. Authorities Ascribe Death of Fred Krueger, Rockland Man, To Exposure

No inquest to determine the death causes of Ferdinand Krueger, 63-year old town of Rockland resident found dead in the township yesterday afternoon after being missing from his home since Sunday, will be held, county authorities announced today after conducting an investigation shortly after the man was found. Death, it was said, was due to exposure as there were no marks on the man's head or body to indicate violence.
Barking of dogs sent out to gather cattle attracted the attention of Clarence Krueger, a nephew of the dead man, and when he investigated he discovered the body, partly underneath the water. The body was found midway between Collins and the home of Emil Krueger, a brother with whom Ferdinand Krueger resided, a distance of about one and
one-half miles from each place.

Died In Sleep
Authorities who investigated said they believed that Krueger died while sleeping in the swamp. It was thought that he was walking along Highway 32 when he became drowsy and walked into the swamp at the side of the road to rest below trees about 150 feet from the highway.
One hand was in his pocket and the other was being used as a pillow by him.

Burial Monday
Funeral services for the deceased will be held from the home of Emil Krueger on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock and from the Evangelical Zion church of Rockland at 1:30 o'clock with interment taking place in the church cemetery.
Besides the brother with whom he resided, Krueger is survived by two other brothers and four sisters living in the vicinity of Rockland.
