Mary Margaret(Black) New "90" of Martinsville, Indiana went to be with her Lord, family & beloved husband Arlie at 12:40 am on Thursday 8-23-2012 at Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.
She was born on Monday 7-10-1922 in Oolitic, Indiana to the late George & Cora (Anderson) Black.
Mary was married to Arlie Everett "Poppy" New on 9-10-1939 & he died on 3-20-1997 at Martinsville Hospital. They owned a small lawn mower shop called New's Lawn & Garden for many years in Martinsville on Morton Ave. Arlie had a stroke and they had to close the business. They have lived at 1620 S. Harriett St in Martinsville since the early '50s. She was a homemaker with a heart of gold, loved to cook & have family gatherings. She and Arlie never missed a day's work at their business. They were well-liked in the town. They saved 26,000.00 dollars to buy a Motor home to travel in & they drove it to California a couple of times to visit their son Richard. Mary never had a driver's license so after Arlie passed she was home most of the time reading her bible. She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church.

Son Richard Arlen New & wife Ronna (Brown) New of Saint Johns, AZ. Ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren & 16 great-great-grandchildren. Brothers Bill, Don, Chester, Floyd & John Black also preceded her in death—sisters Edith Presnell & Edna Webb of Owen County and 1 great-grandchild of California.

Funeral Services will be at noon on Saturday 8-25-2012 at the Apostolic Faith Church 474 West Highland St Martinsville, IN. Rev. Patricia Cook & Perry Quakenbush officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service.
