Janice McKenzie, 85, passed away Oct. 9, 2004 in South Jordan, Utah. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 25, l9l9 to Gladys Park and Sidney Derby McKenzie. Aunt Jan, as she was known by most of her living relatives, loved her Savior and followed his example by unconditionally loving her friends and family. She has returned to live with Jesus, all of her siblings, her parents and some of her dear friends. Although Jan never married or had children of her own, she willingly assumed the role of "mother" to her nieces Cheryl and Becky and her nephew Greg following the untimely death of their mother–her sister. She also served as surrogate grandmother to all their children. She is survived by her sister-in-law Bernice McKenzie-Jones, three nephews, seven nieces and many great and great-great nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Jan was a dedicated employee and hard worker all of her life. She made bullets in Clearfield, Utah during World War II, worked at the downtown Walgreen's store in the 40's and 50's, and retired in l98l after several years with the Utah State Driver License Division. Graveside services held in Jan's honor at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3400 So. Highland Dr. on Thurs., October 14, 2004. Funeral Directors Broomhead Funeral Home.
