SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Francis Z. Knight, 86, of 8 Emery's Bridge Rd., died Friday, May 10, 2002, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.

Born in South Berwick on June 12, 1915, the son of Charles J. and Lottie M. (Nowell) Knight and has lived here for all of his lifetime.

He was a graduate of Berwick Academy, Class of 1933, and had worked as a security guard at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and also had worked as a finisher at Prime Tanning Co.

Mr. Knight was a member of the South Berwick/Wells Christian Church.

The widower of Marjorie C. (Stevens) Knight who died in 1994, he is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Chase of So. Berwick; a grandson, Jeffery A. Chase of Kodiak, Alaska; two brothers, Keith Knight of South Berwick and Hollis Knight of Port Orange, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Burton Knight, and a sister, Elizabeth Stover.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 3, at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Jepson, pastor of the South Berwick/Wells Christian Church officiating. Friends are invited to attend.

Funeral arrangements are by the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St.
