Iona Belle Blankenship, 42 of Ripley, died Tuesday morning in the Charleston General Hospital after an extended illness. Born Aug. 5, 1927, she was a daughter of the late William Preston Blankenship and Mrs. Virtie Stewart Blankenship. She had been employed by restaurants in the Ripley area. Survivors include one son, Allen with the U. S. Army, stationed in Calif.; six brothers, Travis, Layton, Clarence and Otis Blankenship all of Ripley and Clayton and Dayton both of Akron, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Lola Cain and Mrs. Cordia Williams both of Akron and Mrs. Eunice King, New Haven and Mrs. Thelma Flowers, Atwater, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley with burial in the Barnett Cemetery at Rockcastle in Jackson County. Friends may call at the funeral home.
