Gray Court, S.C. - Jean (Bartlett) Uebel, 56, a former Tewksbury resident who once owned a cafe in New Hampshire, died Friday, Feb. 21 at her home in Gray Court after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of Ernst L. Uebel, with whom she would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Oct. 22.
She was born in Springfield, Vt., on Dec. 5, 1946, a daughter of Eleanor "Lee" (Cocco) Bartlett of Pelham, N.H., and the late George Bartlett. She was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1964. She moved to New Hampshire in 1985, and then to South Carolina in 1994.
Prior to moving to South Carolina, Mrs. Uebel was the owner of FaFa's Cafe in Hillsboro, N.H. Most recently, she was employed as a real estate agent for A.B.R. Properties Unlimited in Simsonville
She was member of the Laurence County Board of Realtors and the Laurence County Chapter of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Mrs. Uebel enjoyed gardening, cooking, and gatherings with family and friends.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter and her husband, Jennifer Lee and Matthew Boyd of Bennington, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Martina Uebel, residing in Germany; a stepson, Rahn Thompson of Omaha, Neb.; a brother and his wife, Albert and Barbara (Bechard) Bartlett of Pelham, N.H.; and two grandchildren, Helene Uebel, in Germany and Brodi Thompson, residing in Nebraska.
