The discoverer of antisepsis, known as the 'Mother's Saviour' The first man to realize that germs carried on the hands of surgeons let to post-operative infections. Although he was initially decried, the dramatic fall in death-rates which followed on from hand-washing soon proved him right. His ashes have been removed and are now located in the Museum of History of Medicine in Budapest.
