Mark Scouten, 16, son of Gayla Moore of Arco, Idaho, and William L. Scouten of Idaho Falls, died June 1, 1998, of injuries received in an automobile accident near Arco.
He was born June 3, 1981, at Arco. He attended school in Rexburg for one year. He resided in Boise, Idaho, Colorado and Salt Lake City before moving back to Arco, where he started the eighth grade. He would have been a junior at Butte High School this fall. He especially enjoyed being a member of the Horticulture Club.He enjoyed playing sports, especially football. His speed and determination made the difference when he would play against players at least twice his size. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, his older brothers, and his Dad. He liked to go fishing with his grandparents in their boat. "Marky Mark," as he was sometimes called by his many friends, enjoyed life and was a loving and very happy young man.Survivors include his mother, Gayla Moore of Arco; his father and stepmother, William and Loretta Scouten of Rigby, Idaho; three brothers and a sister. His grandfather, George Moore, preceded him in death.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Moore LDS Stake Center with Bishop Christopher Swanson presiding and President R. Lane Hansen conducting. Friends may visit at Marvel Memorial Chapel in Arco Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and at the Stake Center in Moore Friday foe one hour before the services. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Arco.
