Orlin Anderson lived on a bluff above the river near Stockholm and enjoyed the company of about 20 cats. He never married, but he became a passionate family historian and researcher who worked for many years on a book about his Anderson ancestors from Sweden. I do not know what happened to his manuscript, but inquiries to the local historical society, of which he was a member--and possibly the founder--indicate it was never published. Orlin was also instrumental in finding the origins his paternal grandmother's Peterson line in Holla, Telemark, Norway.
Orlin was an accomplished man:
-1934 graduate of Rib Lake High School
-graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls
-high school teacher in Spring Valley
-medical technician on the hospital ship Marigold during WWII
-1948 master's degree in botany from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
-1954 PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
He taught at Hamline University, St. Paul; the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse; and the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Menomonie.

His obituary appeared February 20, 2004, in the _Pierce County Herald_, online. It states that two brothers, Vernon and Harold Anderson, preceded Orlin in death, and a sister in Rib Lake survived him, as did many nieces and nephews.
