She received her education in the Burke County Public School System, graduating from Waynesboro High and Industrial (W H & I) in 1959. She also attended Savannah State College. Josephine owned and operated "Griffins Daycare Center" and worked for over forty years at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home until her health began to fail.
Josephine received the Lord at an early age; she was baptized at Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until the Lord moved her to a new beginning. Josephine later worshipped at New Birth Baptist Church and Eternal Life Christian Center until her health failed.
Josephine parents, one grandchild, Renaldo Griffin, two son-n-laws, Charles Washington and Willie Darlington, three brothers, James Striggles, Wade Jack Griffin, Sr., and George Edward Griffin, Sr., and one brother-n-law James Q. Miller all have preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: four daughters: Joesynthia Darlington, Sharon Washington, Tenusia Griffin, Renelda (Wilbert, Sr.) Cooper; one son: James (Francenia) Waltower, Jr. all of Waynesboro, Georgia; Nine grandchildren: Kinyatto Rhaney, Demetria (James) Mobley. Chadrick (Natalie) Rhaney, Mario Griffin, Wilbert Cooper, Jr., Ashley Griffin, Diamonique Cooper, Willie Griffin, Alvin Griffin, III. all of Waynesboro, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Ja'Corie Rhaney and Cheyenne Rhaney of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Alvin (Bernice) Griffin of Waynesboro, Georgia, three sisters Rosa Davis of Waynesboro, Georgia, Dorothy Miller and Queen (Willie) of Augusta, Georgia, three siser-n-laws Bernice Striggles, Margaret Griffin of Waynesboro, Georgia, and Beverly Griffin of Augusta, Georgia, one special daughter, Earnestine Jackson, two special sons, Danny Ervin and Mickey Johnson all of Waynesboro, Georgia. A loving host of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.
