Mrs. Della Hayes Austin, 92, of Boone, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007 at the Davant Rehab and Extended Care Facility in Blowing Rock.

She was born Oct. 23, 1914 in Watauga County, a daughter of William Hardin and Frances Lou Edmisten Hayes.
Mrs. Austin was a life member of Three Forks Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Grady Austin; one son, William Craig Austin; and two sisters, Mary Johnson and Virginia Bowles.

Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Three Forks Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. David Ricker, the Rev. Homer Greene, and the Rev. Lynn Powers. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.

Flowers are appreciated or the family suggests memorials to the Edmisten Cemetery Fund, in care of Claude Austin, 321 Johnson Road, Boone, N.C. 28607 or to the Blowing Rock Hospital Resident Council Fund, in care of Marie Tsourakis, P.O. Box 148, Blowing Rock, N.C. 28605.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.

Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Austin family.
