                         Gunshot Wound Causes
                         Death of Eccles Man, 62


     Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Ocus
Wilson Dillon, 62, of Eccles, who died at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday at a local hospital from a gunshot
wound.
     The body will remain at Calfee Funeral Home
pending the arrival of his only son, Ocus Eugene
Dillon, stationed with the U. S. Army in Vienna,
Austria.
     Born at Harper on July 17, 1890, he was the son
of George W. Dillon and Ellen Athey Dillon, de-
ceased. A life-long resident of Raleigh County, he
was a miner until five years ago when he retired
because of ill health.
     He was a member of the Methodist Church,
Raleigh County American Legion Post 32, United
Mine Workers Local, and was a veteran of World
War I.
     He is survived by the following: His wife, Mrs.
Edith Mae Beckelheimer Dillon; four daughters,
Mrs. Oliver H. Pierson, Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. Gilbert
Woodfin, Mrs. Bernard Davis, and Mrs. George
Kyle, all of Petersburg, Va.; one son, Ocus Eugene
Dillon, U. S. Army; Three brothers, Doff Dillon, Har-
per Road; Howard Dillon, Eccles, and Jim Dillon,
Beckley; three sisters, Mrs. Ina Daniels, Eccles,
Mrs. Lettie Honaker, Mabscott, and Mrs. Garnet
Hurt, Fairmont, and six grandchildren.
     Dillon was admitted to the hospital about 11
a.m. and died in the surgery room while doctors
were treating the wound.

DILLON, Ocus Wilson: age 62, of Eccles, died in a
local hospital at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15th.
The body was taken from the Calfee Funeral Home
to the residence Saturday at 4 p.m. Funeral ser-
vices will be conducted Sunday, April 19th, at 1 p.m.
at the Mount Tabor Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.
G. Roark and the Rev. T. W. Hampton, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Calfee cemetery. The Amer-
ican Legion Post No. 32, will have charge of the
graveside services. Active pallbearers will be Her-
bert Harper, L. J. Cooper, Carl Maddy, Charles Ha-
ley, Prince Clyburn and E. B. Dodson. Honorary
pallbearers will be Joe Barker, Montis Wilson,
Charles Fuller, Jimmie Shaw, Clifton Haley, Ash-
ley Clay, Roy Lester, John Lester, Billy Daniels,
Roy Patton, Ervin Byrd, Anglo Giadella, Dr. Doff
Daniels, Dr. C. M. Ward, Roy Chambers, Perce
Ballard, Haze Stover, Frank Grahavac, Jasper
Keesee, Jack Harvey, Joe Harvey and Clarence
Smith. Flowergirls will be Blanch Lester, Georgia
Fink, Nona Lester, Annie Tabor, Myrtle Patton,
Sadie Haley, Elsie Cooper, Marie Shaw, Mrs. Er-
win Byrd, Blanche Daniels, Lona Thompson,
Roberta Farley, Frenchie Daniels, Mildred Haskins,
June Clay, Grace Dodson, Hattie Clyburn and Mrs.
Ben Harper.
