William Bernard Mitchell 1916 ~ 2003 KAYSVILLE - Our father and grandfather William Bernard Mitchell, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2003. He was born February 10, 1916 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Henry William Mitchell and Phoebe Alberta Mecham. He grew up in Bingham Canyon and was the second child of three boys. That meant a lot of trouble for that mother as those three boys roamed the canyon hills day and night. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and came back for his sweetheart Aurla Edith Andersen and they were married November 27, 1937 in San Diego, California, and later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retired after 20 years of service which were very happy years for them. After retirement from the Navy he and his oldest son built a home in Kaysville, Utah where their family spent the rest of their lives. He also retired from HAFB and worked with his sons in their construction business. He loved the outdoors and especially loved to hunt, fish and snow ski and was skiing on his 70th birthday. He also loved being with his family and helping them with all kinds of projects. He is survived by his children: Bill (Alice) Mitchell of Kaysville; Karen (Steve) Russell of Kaysville; Tim (Linda) Mitchell of Conyers, GA; Brent (Lori) Mitchell of Kaysville; Nola (Jeff) Fillin of Kaysville. He has 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grand-children and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Utah East Stake Center, 201 So. 600 E. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
