Served on the Lexington alarm and enlisted March 4, 1776, in Capt. William Bullard's company, Col. William McIntosh's regiment, and served four days; he re-enlisted March 23, 1778 in Capt. Lemuel Mayo's company, served twenty-five days, stationed at Roxbury lines; discharged April 16, 1778; re-enlisted April 20, 1778; discharged June 5, 1778; re-enlisted June 14, 1778, to serve nine months; re-enlisted August 5, 1779, nine-months' men in Col. Greaton's company, 3rd regiment; discharged May 5, 1780; marched July 17, 1780, among six-months' men, from Dedham, to re-enforce the Continental army; discharged December 24, 1780; re-enlisted May 18, 1782, as a marine on Massachusetts ship Tartar, Capt. John Cathcart; discharged November 20, 1782.
