DEATH CLAIMS HERBERT CORY
Insurance Firm Employee Succumbs at 50
Herbert Gene Cory, an insurance company employee, died Sunday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital following a brief illness. He was 50.
Funeral services for Mr. Cory will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. from the Jefferson home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Inc., 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Religious services will follow at Metairie Methodist Church. Interment will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Cory, a native of Lafayette, Ind., was a resident of Metairie for the past 22 years. He resided at 4716 Ithaca.
He had been affiliated with the Handover Co. and Smithers and Company, Inc., insurance companies.
Mr. Cory was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Paul M. Schneidau Lodge No. 391, Free and Accepted Masons and the Grand Consistory of Louisiana. He was also a member of the Metairie Methodist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ingeborg Feingold Cory; one daughter, Mrs. Drenda Cory Howard; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Parvis; three brothers, Charles Ghere, Lawrence Ghere and Glenn Ghere and three grandchildren.
