McDONALD

William Everett McDonald was born Jan. 31, 1913 in Lucas County, Iowa to John William and Celesta May Umbenhower McDonald and passed away Dec. 12, 1989, at his home in Chariton at the age of 76 years, after an extended illness.

He was united in marriage to Marie Estaleen Agan on Dec. 2, 1933, at Chariton. Everett and Marie celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary at their home this month. To this union four children were born.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Chariton; sons, Walton and wife Sally of Casper, Wyo. and Wyatt and wife Dolly of Attica; daughters, Angie Frey of Las Vegas, Nev. and Avon and her husband Dave Feisel of Chariton; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Atha Poush of Des Moines and Geneva Wilson of Mt. Home, Ark. He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of other relatives and friends.

Everett was a lifelong resident of Lucas County. He retired in 1975 after working as a carpenter for several years with his oldest son. He spent his later years buying and selling antiques.

Everett will fondly be remembered as "Grandpa" by employees and many customers of Country Chef Restaurant, where he was a very dedicated volunteer employee of his daughter and son-in-law's business the past 13 years.

Everett accepted Christ in 1951 and has since enjoyed testifying to others about his wonderful Savior. His greatest desire was for everyone to know Jesus as he did.

The family will never be the same without their special husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, but knowing he is with Jesus, free from pain and suffering, our hearts are content.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 16, 1989, at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Chariton, with interment in the Chariton Cemetery. Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence conducted the service. Music was provided by Shari Lepley, Connie Larrington, Barb Rich, Lucinda Burkhalter and Marilyn Werts.

Serving as casket bearers were his nine grandsons: Stan McDonald, Randy McDonald, Gregg McDonald, Mick McDonald, Steve McDonald, David McDonald, Curt Cackler, Rick Frey and Tyler Feisel.
