Leona Knoblauch Benton, age 92, of Columbus, died Monday, July 12, 1999 at Worthington Nursing Home. Retired from the State of Ohio, DOLC, after 32 years of service. Preceded in death her husband Jay Benton, parents Benjamin and Glennia Hard Knoblauch, brother Clarence Knoblauch and sisters Iola Edwards and Althea Morgan. She is survived by her daughters, Frances Ann (Lawrence) Bailey of Westerville and Ina May (J.B.) Williamson of Columbus; grandchildren, Timothy Bailey of Columbus, John J. (Lisa) Williamson of Hilliard, Joel (Brenda) Williamson of Grove City and Rachel Williamson of Columbus; sister-in-law, Marie Benton Landis of Westerville; nephew, Robert (Joyce) Edwards of Worthington; niece, Mary Jane Knoblauch of Columbus. Leona was a graduate of the first class of North High School, Class of 1925. Member of Crestview Presbyterian Church for over 75 years, having served as a deacon. Member of the African Violets Society, North Hi Women's Alumni Association and Westerville Senior Center. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, where funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 1999. Dr. Alan D. Wendt officiating. Interment Kingwood Memorial Park. If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to Crestview Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society, in Leona's memory.
