Born April 23, 1905 at Scherr she was the daughter of the late Loretta Idleman.
Mrs. Browne was a retired school teacher after teaching 37 years in west Virginia and Maryland, a member of the Brick Church of the Brethren, where she served as organist and choir director, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 146 Petersburg, the Petersburg garden Club, Maysville Homemakers Club and the Retired Teachers association.
She is survived by her husband E. Carlton Browne, one stepdaughter, Rosa Lee B. Leach, Smithsburg, Maryland; three step grandchildren, Caryn L. Summers, Steven P. Leach, Carleton M. Leach, and two step great grandchildren, Seth M. Summers and Ryan M. Summers.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Brick Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Steven Raines, the Rev. Harold Garber and Dr. DeWilt Miller officiating. Interment will be at Simon P. Idleman family cemetery at Scherr.
Order of Easter star, Chapter 146, will conduct services this evening (Tuesday) at 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Memorials maybe made to the Grant County Library
