Virgil Ray ‘Bud' Allen was born in Yeager, Oklahoma on August 13, 1940, the son of Virgil Jeffrey Allen & Stella Marie (Hanks) Allen. He was brought up and attended schools in the Yeager community. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. On May 25, 1964, he married Christine Robison at the First Baptist Church in Dustin, Oklahoma. He worked in the oilfield for many years, and then worked for more than twenty years on the Rippee Ranch, retiring in 2009. Bud's favorite things were coon hunting, watching OU football, and raising his chickens. More than anything, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bud passed away in Oklahoma City on Monday evening, August 20, 2012, at the age of 72 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law, Willie Tillery, and his brother, Donald Atkins. He is survived by four children: Steven Allen and wife Trina, of Holdenville, Sonia Bishop of Yeager, Charlene Steele and husband Dave, of The Colony, Texas, and Donna Crawford and husband Eldon, of Holdenville; eleven grandchildren: Jarrell Allen, Derius Johnson, Deryke Johnson, Jeremy Crawford and wife Ivory, Bryce Bishop, Robbie Archer, Tabatha Allen, Courtney Rae Allen, Brant Crawford and wife Bryanna, Michael Crawford, and Teather Mixon and husband Tollee; numerous great grandchildren; various other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be Friday, August 24, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene, and Bud will be laid to rest in the Yeager Cemetery. Rev. Bert Robison is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Bryce Bishop, Brant Crawford, Jeremy Crawford, Jarrell Allen, Robbie Archer, Michael Crawford, Deryke Johnson, and Derius Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Eric Tillery, Allen Tillery, Alvie Martin, and Hoyle Mouser.
