He was the son of Joseph and Hazel (Sprague) Roop. He married Connie Stahl, who survives in Scott.
Also surviving are two sons: William (Robin), Scott, and Michael (Cheryl), Van Wert; two daughters: Chris Harman, Van Wert, and Laurie Roop, Ft. Wayne; and several grandchildren, great-grand- and great-great-grandchildren.
He worked maintenance at Ley Equipment, Teleflex, then retired in 1994 with Budd Company, all Van Wert. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Army, a member of the Van Wert American Legion and enjoyed fishing and camping.
Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
