Stephen W. Abbott was the son of Stephen Abbott & Nabby (Stone) Abbott( who were married Dec 13, 1835). He was born October 1, 1837 in Beverly, Essex Co., Mass.
He became a carpenter.
He died July 17, 1864, at the age of 26 years, 9 months, of chronic diarhea, a Soldier of the 23rd Mass. Regt.,"in a Hospital in VA." (Death Certificate, City Hall, Beverly, Mass.) Burial, Central Cemetery, Beverly, Lot 111, S.D.10.
The proprietor of this lot was Stephen W. Abbott.

Stephen W. Abbott was a 24 year-old cordwainer residing in Beverly, Essex Co., Mass. when he enlisted August 2, 1862 as a Private. On August 5, 1862, he mustered into "G" Co., Mass. 23rd Infantry. He died of disease on July 18, 1864 at Broadway Landing, VA. (at base hospital)
His widow, Elizabeth P. Abbott, applied for a pension on September 15, 1864, Pension Application #65, 006.
